Lisa Semler grew up traveling as an army brat all over the US and abroad. Her grandmother gave her the first camera she ever owned at 12 years old. Photography became a hobby and passion that developed into hand painted photographs that eventually led into her true love, oil painting.
Lisa has studied with different art instructors in photography, drawing and painting. Lisa’s nine children, ranch/vineyard and winemaking in the hills of Malibu have been a true inspiration for the paintings that include abstract and realism. Traditional painting with brushes, palette knife, and collage of recycled items are a part of the continual process of exploration of ideas and traditions. Landscapes, animals and wine has been the most compelling way to express her love of life. Lisa has been involved in many organizations of art including Women Painters West and Thousand Oaks Art Association. The Saddlerock Ranch and Vineyard is where she lives and works out of her studio and is always connected with family and beauty.
